Master's Degrees (R.D. 1393/2007)

Professional Master's Degrees

The new Master's Degree in Informatics Engineering will be implemented in next academic year 2013-2014.The Master of Informatics Engineering is a course focusing on professional practice. This degree course develops and furthers training related to leadership and management, and rounds out and focuses on specialized technologies associated with a broad spectrum of ICT job profiles. Graduates of the Master of Informatics Engineering are practitioners that have a broad scientific, technological and socio-economic grounding, trained to lead and manage development and application projects in the field of computing. Additionally, the Master program will allow students who wish to register in different certifications highly valued in the current labor market.

This master's degree, linked with the professional practice of informatics engineering, provides thorough training in subjects related to business leadership and management within the field of information technologies. This grounding is supplemented and specialized through instruction in technologies associated with a broad spectrum of job profiles within this field. Graduates of this master's degree will have acquired the communication, leadership and decision-making skills required to be able to start up their own business or take up management positions in established ICT companies.

The European Master on Software Engineering trains software engineering professionals to work in an international setting, developing competences related to both software project management and technical issues. The programme covers both the state of the art of research in the discipline and the current state of industry practice.

Research Master's Degrees

This master's degree covers training needs across a broad spectrum of branches of science and many engineering disciplines. These needs emerge from the support provided by computing to the multidisciplinary field of simulation-based science and engineering and, especially, the  underlying modelling, simulation and analysis tools. Consequently, there is a demand in computational science and engineering disciplines for personnel that are increasingly better trained in these techniques. Their importance is such that the weight attached to simulatability is comparable to the significance lent to experimentation and theory in the development of modern science.

The aim of the Master in Artificial Intelligence is to train students to innovate in the field of artificial intelligence on two fronts: invent innovative techniques and methods in the artificial intelligence research field and transfer these techniques and methods to society and industry, coming up with innovative software processes and solutions. This way, computing professionals and, generally, science and technology professionals, will learn more about artificial intelligence to be able to tackle and solve both scientific and technological problems using techniques and methods that are the product of recent research in the field.

This is the natural continuation for higher education degree holders that want to receive sound training in computer software and systems with a research slant. As such, it is ideal for students that intend to study for a doctoral degree.

Software is essential in modern society, and its complexity is growing every day. To guarantee its correctness, security and trustworthiness is utterly important since errors may result in huge problems, including the loss of human lives. Such a guarantee can only be obtained by rigorous proofs which rely on treating code as something amenable to be formally designed. This Master's Degree is shared between three top-level Universities in the Madrid area, and teachers are mostly well-known researchers in this topic.
