The Spanish final of the Imagine Cup competition is to be held at the Facultad de Informática's Assembly Hall on 16 April. The final will decide Spain's representative at the Imagine Cup Worldwide Final to be held in France in the summer. The Imagine Cup is the world's premier technology competition for higher education students. The competition is sponsored by Microsoft Corp and backed by UNESCO, and Spain is a regular participant.
This is the 6th Imagine Cup, and this year's winners will receive cash prizes worth 85,000 US dollars. The Imagine Cup aims to reward inspiring technological innovation to solve key issues for society. This year's slogan, also setting the competition's theme, is "Imagine a world where technology enables a sustainable environment".
A total of 334 students divided into 112 teams representing 59 countries and regions participated in the last cup final: Imagine a world where technology enables better education for all.
This is a public event and will be attended by Microsoft Ibérica President Rosa María García García, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid Rector Javier Uceda Antolín, and Facultad de Informática Dean Javier Segovia Pérez.
